About

Michaela Robbins – Specialist Teacher & Dyslexia Assessor

Mik 2

I have extensive teaching experience across a diverse range of educational settings, working with children and young people who present with a broad spectrum of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), including dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, as well as learners with autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and other complex learning profiles. My professional background includes over ten years as a Specialist Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) within secondary schools and sixth forms, where I developed a deep understanding of the complex needs of neurodiverse learners. During this period, I oversaw all aspects of exam access arrangements, from early identification and documenting patterns of need, to administering standardised assessments and preparing submissions for examination boards.

I am a Level 7 qualified Specialist Teacher and Dyslexia Assessor, and I hold an MA in Teaching and Learning, alongside AMBDA and APC accreditation. These qualifications enable me to conduct robust diagnostic assessments and deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions. My practice is grounded in a personalised, strengths-led approach that seeks to remove barriers to learning while equipping individuals with effective, sustainable strategies that promote academic progress, independence, and self-efficacy.

As a dyslexic professional, I bring both lived experience and specialist knowledge to my work. I understand the challenges that neurodiverse learners may encounter, as well as the creativity, problem-solving and resilience that frequently characterise dyslexic thinking. I am committed to empowering individuals to recognise their potential and develop genuine confidence in their abilities.

I provide full diagnostic assessments, exam access arrangement assessments, and specialist tuition for learners across Lancashire, with additional assessment availability in Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
